The Southern Regional Landfill has been carefully designed to provide a safe and considered disposal of waste while limiting environmental impact.
It is not open to the public with only authorised users able to dispose or transport waste.
The landfill is consented to receive a wide range of waste that includes:
permitted waste, special waste, some accepted hazardous waste and controlled waste.
Southland Based Waste
WasteNet Southland was formed in early 2000 to manage the municipal waste within the Southland District Council, Invercargill City Council or Gore District Council (including Stewart Island) regions.
There is a number of authorised users permitted to dispose or transport waste on behalf of Wastenet Southland. These users are required to adhere to strict disposal protocols and testing.
